June 7th 2010. Blog number one.

This is the first of many Dallas Cowboys blogs I will be posting over the next year. My goal is to keep readers updated with anything and everything related to the Dallas Cowboys. Mostly this blog will discuss "On the field" topics, but any big news or developments will be featured.

OTA's (organized team activities) have been going on for the last 3 weeks, and this week will be the final week of OTA's before the first mandatory mini-camp this weekend. The OTA's are a good time for the rookies and younger players to get more reps and become more comfortable with the playbook before training camp begins, and for veterans to shake off some rust and bond with their new teammates. The OTA's have been highlighted by the wide receivers so far. Rookie Dez Bryant from Oklahoma state has been making highlight reel plays every day, and Roy E Williams claims that he and Tony Romo are starting to click. He even went so far to say that "this year, we're connecting like (Joe) Montana and (Jerry) Rice. It's night and day from last year so I know we're expecting big things for both of us." The biggest story of the OTA's by far has been the absence of WR Patrick Crayton. Crayton has asked to be traded from the Cowboys following the Cowboys decision to draft WR Dez Bryant in the first round of the 2010 draft. Crayton has now asked to be released from the team, and he has not showed up to any of the OTA's because he does not want to risk being injured and detour his chances to join another team. It has recently been reported that Crayton no longer wants to be a distraction and will most likely join his team for the final week of OTA's before this weekends mini-camp. The OTA's are voluntary, so he will not be fined for not being there.

I feel for Crayton honestly. He's not going to get the chance to start because of the complete kick assness of "I can see for miles and Miles" Austin, and the overpaid Roy Willams. His punt returning days are numbered because of Bryant, as well as his slot receiver position. Crayton is always getting the short end of the stick, and it's not fair because he has been one of the most consistent guys on the team. He's no track star, and his numbers will never blow your mind, but he's a producer and a huge part of this team. He and Witten are the 3rd down go to guys. The young receivers waiting in the wings are impressing a lot of folks right now too. Sam Hurd and Kevin Ogletree are making big strides right now, and they come a lot cheaper than the 2 million dollar Crayton. Poor guy, it must suck to feel so unwanted by team. What do ya'll think about the Crayton situation?
